You're a great cat lover too! "Beloved Cat Photos" taken by my husband, a first-time cat owner, are so endearing

Cats are curious creatures that change their expressions depending on who is taking their picture. Lately, my husband has been actively taking pictures of our beloved cats. I laugh at his fresh approach, and I'm surprised and even a little jealous of the expressions the cats show him that they don't show me.

My Husband Got Hooked on Cat Photography After One of His Pictures Went Viral

My husband wasn't originally someone who took many pictures. When we go out together, neither of us takes pictures, so it's not uncommon for us to have no memories of our trips.

Even after two and a half years of living together, my husband had gotten used to having cats at home, but he never actively took pictures of our beloved cats. So, I would secretly take pictures of them together and show them to him, asking, "Isn't this good!?"

One day, my husband came into the kitchen and burst out laughing, exclaiming, "What is that!!!!" Curious about what he found so funny, I stood next to him and saw Jiji, our Munchkin, relaxing by the TV, stretching his short legs to their maximum extent!

While it was a familiar sight to me, my husband seemed to be seeing it for the first time. He excitedly started taking pictures, saying, "He's so utterly relaxed!!!"

My husband took many continuous shots of Jiji relaxing so much. Perhaps because of that, Jiji looked a little annoyed by the end of it.

My husband knows that I post pictures of our cats on social media due to my profession, so he shared the photos with me, saying, "I got some good ones, I'll send them to you~."

Since it was such a masterpiece, I thought I'd share it with many people. I posted it on X without much thought. And then, for some reason... the number of impressions (views) was higher than the pictures I usually take myself.

When I told my husband the news, feeling a bit frustrated, he was also surprised, saying, "Huh! Why?!" From that experience, he must have thought, "There are things only I can capture!"

Since then, he started taking pictures of funny scenes or things that made him chuckle, and shares them with me, explaining the situation.

"Fresh Cat Photos" Taken by My Husband

Now, let me show you some of the fresh cat photos taken by my husband. First, here's a "packed photo" of our cat Leon diligently trying to fit his body into a small box.

At that time, we were both commenting, "There's no way he'll fit," and "It's too small," as we watched him try to get into the box. (We both applauded when he finally got in.) Incidentally, my husband took six pictures of this scene, changing the angle and distance.

Perhaps because of that, by the end of the photoshoot, Leon seemed as annoyed as Jiji was.

Then, one day, he even took a picture of the living room early in the morning, saying, "I'll show you what it looks like before you wake up."

Seeing Kotaro and Leon relaxing together on the cat perch, I felt a warmth in my heart, realizing that they spend time together like that when I'm not around.

On another day, my husband took a picture of Jiji looking confused, saying, "It's like he's asking, 'Is this how you're supposed to use a box?'"

His unique voice-over was so spot-on that I couldn't help but laugh, thinking Jiji might actually be thinking that.

My husband is also good at capturing Kotaro playing hide-and-seek. The sheet covering the armchair, which has been scratched so much that the sponge is exposed, seems to be a fun hiding place, which is the most important thing.

Incidentally, his latest work is Leon relaxing while dancing. While my husband was diligently taking pictures, saying, "Doesn't that hand position hurt?" Leon's face conveyed, "Shut up."

The Fun of Capturing "Natural Cats" Learned from a Beginner Photographer

My husband's cat photos are fresh and show cats in their natural state. Because of this, I've learned a lot myself.

Having shared photos of my beloved cats on social media for over 10 years, I sometimes feel compelled to "show something funny!" This is because social media is also a platform for me to promote and express myself as a freelancer.

Also, I'm not a particularly strong-willed person, so I tend to focus on humor because I want to post something that will make someone who's had a terrible day smile a little before they go to sleep.

I used to feel an unspoken pressure to capture unique photos that would make various people smile, while also making sure our feline overlords were having fun. Sometimes, I would almost give in to that pressure.

But as I laughed at my husband's natural cat photos, I realized that "enjoying the photography" might be what it's all about. While it's important to stick to your goals and pride, perhaps it's most important for me to simply enjoy "taking pictures of my beloved cats" to the fullest.

It felt like a fresh photographer taught me something important.

In a society where virality is often sought after, cats are always cute, whether they go viral or not. Every little gesture, every fleeting expression, their sleepy faces when they wake up - everything about them is cute. And, of course, even their condescending looks at me.

I want to continue being a cat lover who enjoys capturing those moments and seconds, always putting the cats first.
