"I want her to wear a collar in case she escapes, but she absolutely hates it." A casual remark from a fellow cat owner struck me profoundly. A collar is supposed to protect a cat in case they escape. So why has it become something they despise? When I thought about it, I realized how few collars are made specifically for cats. The ones lining pet store shelves are mostly repurposed dog collars made of nylon or stiff leather. I couldn't believe these were suited to a cat's delicate body or natural habits.

What if there was a collar that cats actually didn't mind wearing? Cats could live more comfortably, and their owners' worries would be eased. To create this ideal collar, we started by surveying the common problems people faced. We discovered that a shocking number of owners were struggling with "collar baldness" (hair loss around the neck). Some stopped using collars because of the hair loss, while others felt it was too cruel to force a collar on a cat that hated it. Yet, the fear of their cat escaping remained.
