Anxieties about living with a cat
"I want to put a collar on my cat because I'm worried she might escape, but she absolutely hates it."
This was a casual remark made by an acquaintance who is a cat owner, but it came as a huge shock to me.
Collars are supposed to protect cats in case they escape. So why do cats dislike them so much? When I considered this, I realized how few collars are made specifically for cats.
The pet store shelves are filled with products made of nylon or leather, all repurposed dog items. I didn't think they were suited to a cat's body or habits.
A cat with a bald spot on its neck from a tight collar
Many pet owners are concerned about "collar baldness."
Cat collar balding concerns
What if there was a collar that cats didn't dislike? Cats would live more comfortably, and their owners' worries would be reduced. To create such an ideal cat collar, we started by researching the problems associated with cat collars.
We discovered that many owners were concerned about "collar baldness." Some owners didn't use collars because of baldness, or because their cats disliked them and they felt it was cruel. However, they were still worried about their cats escaping. Owners were tormented by such conflicts.
Collars not specifically designed for cats are stiff and heavy for them. It seems that the cause of collar baldness and why cats dislike collars lies in the collars themselves.
This is where Poponeko's cat-first approach to collar making began.
Cat-first values
Since a cat collar is something your cat wears constantly, it must be comfortable for them.
We created a cat collar that caters to cats' behavioral characteristics and life cycles, prioritizing a "cat-first" perspective over design or cost. We pursued these essential values in its creation.
A tangible form of a pet owner's love
A cat collar is, so to speak, the "bond" that connects you and your beloved cat, and a "symbol" that they are a pet cat.
We want to be particular about every aspect of the collar – its shape, material, parts, stitching, and packaging – on behalf of owners who care deeply about their cats. With this in mind, we handle every step from product planning to manufacturing and sales ourselves.
It might be a little inefficient, but we refuse to compromise on meticulous craftsmanship.
Furthermore, we must not forget to consider the natural environment. We deliver our products with minimal, simple packaging, avoiding excessive wrapping, and using 100% recycled paper for cardboard and packing materials.
We hope you'll adorn your beloved cat with a Poponeko cat collar.
"More smiles in cats' lives." That is our wish.
