Are you experiencing any of these issues?
Many cat owners want to put a collar on their cat in case it escapes or gets lost, but they have concerns.
"My cat hates collars..."
"My cat developed a bald spot from wearing a collar..."
"I'm worried about choking accidents..."
There's a reason why cats dislike collars. While "not being used to it" is one possibility, the main reason is that there are very few collars designed specifically for cats.
Many cat collars sold at pet stores and home centers are simply repurposed dog collars, which are often too stiff and heavy for cats.
Additionally, cats have very delicate fur and skin. Wearing an ill-fitting collar can lead to skin inflammation or "cat collar baldness," where the fur along the collar line falls out. Many cats suffer from these issues.
We wanted to create a safe and secure collar for such cats. With that in mind, we crafted cat collars with love and meticulous attention to detail.
If you wear a hard, heavy collar...
This can lead to collar chafing or cause the dog to develop an aversion to collars.
A cat collar is a "mark" that a cat has an owner.
You might think, "Since they're indoor cats, there's no need to force a collar on a cat that doesn't like it..." However, a cat collar is essential precisely for cats that are kept strictly indoors.
For cat owners, the biggest source of anxiety is "escape."
No matter how careful an owner is, it's not uncommon for cats to slip outside through small gaps, such as an open front door when guests arrive, a screen door, or a balcony. Moreover, in recent years, natural disasters like earthquakes and floods have been frequent. Some cats panic and run outside, getting lost.
Lost cats are taken to animal shelters and animal welfare centers, but if their owners are not found within the designated period, they are euthanized.
To avoid such a tragic fate, please make sure your beloved cat wears a collar.
Recommended for these uses:
Preventing Escapes and Getting Lost
In the unlikely event your cat escapes, a lost pet tag on their collar with your contact information will help them return home. Additionally, communicating features such as the collar color will make it easier to find your lost cat.
Disaster Preparedness
If you and your cat are separated due to an earthquake or flood, a cat collar will help identify them as a pet. Disasters can strike at any time, so always make sure your cat is wearing a collar and ID tag.
Preventing household accidents
Attaching a bell to your cat's collar gives you peace of mind, as you'll always know where they are. It also helps prevent domestic accidents like getting caught in a door or being stepped on.
Customer Testimonials
Weighing a mere 4 grams. The ultimate pursuit of stress-free wear.
Poponeko's cat collars are based on the concept of "kindness to cats." That's why they are exceptionally soft and lightweight. We have thoroughly researched cat behavior and focused on safety performance.
Finest ingredients
Gentle on the skin, won't cause collar baldness
Because cats' skin and fur are so delicate, even a slight irritation can cause collar-related hair loss. To solve this problem, we've used luxurious domestic fabrics to create a gentle feel against the skin.
Stress-free comfort
Lightweight design, lighter than a 10-yen coin
Since cat collars are worn constantly, it's important that they don't stress your cat. Our simple design not only looks cute but also prioritizes lightness to reduce any burden.
Safety Performance
Peace of mind even in an emergency
The collar is designed to come off if strong force is applied, preventing accidents such as your cat getting caught and choking or getting its jaw stuck.
Our Commitment to Cat-First Cat Collars
Poponeko cat collars are created with a "cat-first" approach, infused with abundant love.
Our cat-loving staff design with your feline friend in mind, carefully selecting fabrics and parts, and repeatedly prototyping until we are truly satisfied.
We are committed to manufacturing with meticulous attention to detail so that even cats new to collars, as well as kittens and senior cats, can wear them with peace of mind.
Fabric collars made with domestically sourced materials
Poponeko's cat collars are "fabric-based," made from carefully selected materials. We use high-quality fabrics manufactured for human apparel. We insisted on domestically produced fabrics because some imported fabrics can be stiff or have poor dyeing quality, leading to color fading.
We offer a wide range of materials, including cotton, linen, organic cotton, and chirimen. The material is clearly stated on each product page, so you can shop with confidence.
The ring (slider) is also "fabric-based"
We are meticulously gentle with anything that touches the skin. The ring (slider) through which the cat collar tape passes is also made of the same fabric as the tape, not metal.
Over 500 simple and cute designs
Poponeko offers approximately 500 patterns and designs for cat collars. We keep flashy decorations that could burden your cat to a minimum, and instead use simple designs to enhance your cat's cuteness.
Careful finish unique to handmade items
All of our cat collars are made in Japan. Expert craftsmen meticulously finish each one by hand. We are committed to providing a gentle touch that mass-produced items cannot offer, along with reliable quality.
Fray-resistant, meticulous stitching
Cat collars, being worn constantly, inevitably suffer from thread fraying due to friction. To ensure comfort and durability for as long as possible, we use fine stitching and sew meticulously.
The truth is, the finer the stitching, the more thread is used, which increases costs... However, by leveraging the strength of direct manufacturing and sales, we've cut unnecessary distribution costs, enabling us to achieve high-quality, low-priced cat collars.
Lighter than a 10-yen coin
Poponeko cat collars weigh approximately 4 grams. While there are slight differences depending on the fabric, they are lighter than a 4.5-gram 10-yen coin. Furthermore, since no core material is used, they are surprisingly light and soft. Many cats don't even notice they're wearing one.
Our commitment to safety and security
Because these are products for your beloved cat, we take responsibility for all aspects of materials, design, and manufacturing processes. We also focus on safety features in case of emergencies and measures to prevent escapes, supporting a comfortable lifestyle with your feline companion.
Safety Adjuster to Prevent Accidents
Poponeko cat collars feature a safety adjuster that snaps open when strong force is applied.
These adjusters are made by Duraflex, a company whose products are also used by the U.S. military. Compared to other companies, their resin has higher viscosity and elasticity, making it resistant to breaking even when impacted. You can use it with peace of mind, even for playful cats.
Please note: The safety adjuster does not guarantee 100% safety.
ID Tags and Name Labels for Emergencies
To prepare for potential escapes or getting lost, you can attach separately sold "ID tags" or "name labels."
Thorough Inspection and Hygiene Management
All Poponeko cat collars are finished in our own workshop. While some intermediate processes may be carried out by trusted partner workshops, we maintain high quality by performing the final processes and inspections ourselves. We also strictly manage hygiene to prevent mold, bacteria, or dirt from adhering to the products.
