Too cute to be an annoyance! Five unique "cat harassments" from three cats

When pet owners (servants) are working, the "cat harassment" that cats engage in has a unique cuteness and humor. If it were a human, you'd definitely want to say, "Stop it!" but with a cat, you find yourself begging, "Please do it more!!!!"

At my house, my three beloved cats each use their unique personalities to engage in cat harassment, and their owner is delighted.

Cat Harassment Case 1: Becoming a cat writer without permission

As a freelance writer, I spend most of my day working on my computer. Due to declining stamina, I no longer work until 2 or 3 AM, but I still spend 8 to 9 hours a day glued to the screen, typing away at the keyboard with single-minded focus.

"What is that guy doing always clattering over there?" I'm sure my cats think that when they see me. As I write, my beloved cats take turns coming in front of the computer, checking to see, "Hey, are you alive?" and then leaving.

However, Jiji, my calico cat, seems to aspire to be a writer. He often types out manuscripts by walking on the keyboard. The string of characters he produces is uniquely avant-garde, something a human would never write, and every time I see Jiji's manuscript, I think, "The world of writing I see is so narrow…"

Jiji's cat harassment was solved by adding more computer chairs, but writer Jiji has surprisingly many fans, and I sometimes get messages from followers asking, "I want to see more manuscripts" or "Aren't you writing anymore?" So, I'm thinking of asking him to write again, while paying him a manuscript fee (Churu).

Cat Harassment Case 2: Musical Chairs with Three Cats

Musical chairs is a game that surprisingly requires quick reflexes, isn't it? I belong to the "yutori generation," and when I was in elementary school, I wasn't good at musical chairs or fruit basket, which for some reason were often played during "yutori" (relaxed) time.

I wasn't agile because I lacked reflexes, and I was a cynical kid who, regarding the rule of fiercely competing for chairs, thought, "Why don't they just add more chairs?"

I never thought I'd still be playing musical chairs as an adult. In my living room, there are two floor chairs, two counter chairs, and one computer chair (Wait, isn't that too many chairs…?). Yet, for some reason, my cats love to take the chair I want to sit in.

When I want to do my makeup, they occupy the chair near the table where I've arranged my cosmetics, and when I get up to use the restroom during work, they neatly perch on my computer chair.

Their favorite is the floor chair in the living room. It's always when I want to sprawl out after work that the cats are already sprawling there.

There was a time when I tried the "decoy strategy" of placing stuffed animals on the floor chair to prevent them from taking it when I wasn't there, but it didn't work on the cats.

After trial and error, I realized that the most peaceful solution was to simply give up my seat when the cats want to sit there and lie on the floor myself.

Cat Harassment Case 3: Let's break the tablet by rubbing against it.

There's nothing better than unwinding at the end of the day, watching videos or online shopping while munching on potato chips, right? I feel like I lived the whole day just for this moment.

But even during this relaxing time, cat harassment still occurs. I love spending time casually watching videos on my tablet, but while I'm watching, my cats inexplicably rub against the tablet. Their force is so strong that the standing tablet often topples over, making me scream, "Aah!!!"

Whenever that happened, I'd pick up my cat and say, "At 〇 o'clock and 〇 minutes, I'm arresting you for property damage," and then apprehend (cuddle) them. So, my cats probably learned that knocking over the tablet means they'll get attention.

Lately, they've started rubbing against the tablet with more force not just when they want attention, but also when they're simply bored or want food or treats.

If a human did this, I'd get angry and say, "Stop it, you'll break it," but with a cat, it's dangerous because my mind gets all excited, thinking, "Oh! You want so much attention?… That means you really love me!"

Recently, I'm caught between wanting to figure out how to protect my tablet and worrying about what if my cats stop seeking attention if I take measures against it.

Cat Harassment Case 4: Cat punches flying at snack time.

Perhaps because my husband loves boxing, my beloved cat Leon has recently mastered the cat punch. His skill is showcased when I'm eating snacks alone. He particularly targets mochi-like Yukimi Daifuku.

At some point, whenever I take Yukimi Daifuku out of the freezer, Leon quickly appears in front of me. Just as I lift the Yukimi Daifuku to put it in my mouth, he starts jabbing.

His jabs are so fast that sometimes cream gets on his paw pads. Then, he licks it as if to say, "Oh, it just accidentally got on me." He's such a repeat offender…

His punches are so fast that I'm always desperately trying to defend myself. It's a shame I can't convey the situation with a photo.

Lately, even when I take pudding or jelly out of the refrigerator, Leon appears in front of me with a motivated stance. I try to explain, "This isn't Yukimi Daifuku, so please spare me," but he's not convinced.

Cat Harassment Case 5: When lying down, attack the "hair."

Many cats inexplicably enjoy biting their owner's hair. Kotaro and Leon in our house are of that type. Whenever I lie down, they always harass my hair, but their harassment methods have individual differences.

First, Kotaro thinks my hair is a string. From my head grow many thin strings... "Wouldn't it be fun to play with these?" he seems to think, and the moment I lie down, his sharp claws sometimes stab my head.

At that moment, in Kotaro's eyes, I'm probably not an owner, but prey.

On the other hand, for Leon, my hair might be like catnip. For some reason, he takes on an ecstatic expression.

As a result, my hair ends up with a noticeable difference in length between the left and right sides, and my regular hairdresser always ends up asking, "Were you 'cat-chewed' again?" Every time I'm at the salon and they say, "Okay, I'll cut the longer side to match the cat's chewing," I shiver at the terror and cuteness of cat harassment that even controls my hair.
