When I consulted my hairdresser about "my cat's habit of chewing my hair"... I ended up with a haircut that surprisingly put my cat first.

Like other cat owners, I usually prioritize my beloved cat over myself. But even I was surprised to find myself thinking, "I can't believe I'm putting my cat first even here...!"

That "here" was my hair. About two years ago, after meeting a cat-loving hairstylist, I started getting a "cat cut" that respects my beloved cat's nibbling habits.

The culprit behind the asymmetrical hair...

It all started when my hairstylist pointed out the asymmetry in my hair. At the time, my right side was slightly shorter than my left, making my hair uneven.

I've always liked bold, high-tone bleached hair, so I thought the asymmetry was due to damage. However, even after my hairstylist trimmed my hair to an even length, it would be uneven again by my next visit, which started to make my stylist curious.

When asked, "Do you have any idea why this is happening?" the image that popped into my head was my beloved cat, Leon, who loves to nibble on my hair. No, it couldn't be the cat. He doesn't chew on it that much. Thinking this, I confessed to my hairstylist, "My cat sometimes chews on my hair."

Suddenly, my hairstylist became very excited. "Oh! How cute!! How does he chew on it!?" she exclaimed, showing more interest than I expected. It was very cute to see my typically wild hairstylist suddenly acting like a giddy high school girl.

As someone who gets talkative when it comes to cats, I explained the situation in as much detail as possible, boasting about my beloved cat's cuteness. I confessed my subservient devotion, saying things like, "When I brush my teeth, he climbs onto the sink and bites my hair while standing on two legs," and "When I sit in the zaisu chair, he climbs onto it and bites my hair while digging in his claws."

Every time my hairstylist heard my answers, she repeated, "How cute!" She was like a bot that could only say "cute." After listening intently, she confessed her love for cats, saying, "If I wasn't allergic to cats, I would definitely have one!" This time, I became a bot that could only say, "Cats are cute, aren't they?"

The hairstylist's unexpectedly ingenious solution

After some enthusiastic conversation, my hairstylist came back to reality and said, "Indeed, the cuts are random. Nyann's nibbling could be related to the asymmetry in your hair." As expected of a professional, her observational skills were amazing. And she calls cats "Nyann," which is adorable.

Feeling both impressed and smitten, I replied, "I see. It's hard to stop a cat from nibbling, so I wonder what I should do."

Then, my hairstylist said, "Mmm-hmm, you want Nyann to keep nibbling, don't you?" showing her complete cat-first attitude. Even though she doesn't live with a cat, she's incredibly cat-first. I felt ashamed for even momentarily searching for "ways to stop nibbling" in my head.

While I was still chastising myself, my hairstylist seemed to have come up with a conclusion that was way beyond my expectations. "Alright! Then, let's put a nibbling cut on the right side to match Nyann's nibbling!" With that, she started cutting the left side of my hair, using Leon's "nibbling cut" which was more prominent on the right side, as a reference.

A professional hairstylist was using my cat's random cuts as a model... I was surprised by this unexpected development and quietly cheered on my hairstylist, who was struggling and saying, "Ugh! It's hard to recreate Nyann's cut!"

The fate of a subservient owner whose hair became cat-first

I never thought my hair would become cat-first. As I thought this, imagining Leon's smug face in my head, the cut was finished. The hairstylist proudly announced, "I made it as close as possible to Nyann's nibbling cut."

Honestly, as an amateur, I couldn't tell what made it a "nibbling cut" when I looked in the mirror, but I understood that Leon and the hairstylist had created a new cut together. I'm sure the hairstylist never imagined a day would come when she'd be cutting hair based on how a cat bites it.

Since then, every time I go to the salon, I get a "nibbling cut." After a while of this, I stopped caring so much about the asymmetry of my hair.

This might also be due to my hairstylist's skill. I was impressed, but as I stopped caring about the asymmetry of my hair, my hairstylist, while saying "That's good," looked somewhat sad. She started asking regretfully, "Doesn't Nyann bite your hair anymore?" Perhaps she wants to do more "nibbling cuts"...?

By the way, Leon, the originator of the "nibbling cut," no longer comes to bite my hair during toothbrushing sessions. However, when I wake up in the morning and clean his litter box, he still hugs me from behind like a child being piggybacked, standing on two legs and nibbling on my back hair.

When I told my hairstylist about this recent development, she was absolutely smitten, exclaiming, "Oh! Nyann does that for you?!" It might not be long until Leon's skillful nibbling creates another "nibbling cut" on my back hair.
