Three Reasons to Choose Poponeko's "Vest-Style Harness"

Overwhelmingly more secure hold than string ties – they won't slip off easily.

Double-lock "hook-and-loop fastener & buckle" prevents mishaps.

Skin-friendly organic cotton and a design that won't constrict the neck.

Easy to put on, and it won't slip off easily.

The harness also has to be comfortable for cats. With that in mind, we re-evaluated the materials and shape to create a harness designed specifically for cats.

FAQs

A. While we cannot claim that our harness is "100% escape-proof" due to the very flexible nature of cats, Poponeko's vest-style harnesses are designed to gently envelop the cat's body over a wider area, unlike strap-style harnesses, making it physically more difficult for them to slip out. Furthermore, we have adopted a double-lock system with a "hook-and-loop fastener (Velcro)" and a "buckle" on the back, designed to minimize the risk of escape in an emergency.

A. Please rest assured. Unlike a collar that applies pressure to a single point on the neck, this harness holds your cat across a wide area from the chest to the abdomen. Therefore, when pulled, the force is distributed, which significantly reduces the burden on your cat's trachea and neck. This is a major advantage of the vest-style harness.

A. Poponeko harnesses do not require you to put your cat's back legs through them. Simply slip the harness over your cat's back, fasten the hook-and-loop closure snugly on their back, and then click the buckle to secure it. It's a simple two-step process. The design makes it quick and easy to put on, even for cats that tend to struggle.

A. It is a very natural reaction (normal behavior) for a cat wearing a harness for the first time to walk in a low crouch as if crawling, or to roll over and freeze. First, try putting it on indoors for just a few minutes, and while distracting them with their favorite treats or toys, gradually accustom them to the idea that "nothing scary happens when I wear this."

A. Poponeko harnesses are designed primarily for emergency safety (as a lifeline), such as during veterinary visits or for evacuation/co-evacuation in disasters. They are not recommended for everyday walks like a dog.

A. Even if your cat is kept strictly indoors, there's always a risk of needing to evacuate due to a sudden disaster (earthquake or fire), or of your cat panicking and bolting out the door or window. We strongly recommend acclimating your cat to a harness in advance so that you can evacuate smoothly and without panic in an emergency.

A. Currently, our products are sized for adult cats. For kittens, we recommend using our products from around 6 months to 1 year of age, when their bone structure is more developed and their bodies are larger.

A. Yes, the lining of Poponeko harnesses, which comes into direct contact with the skin, is made from 100% organic cotton. This material is gentle, non-irritating, and breathable, making it suitable even for cats with sensitive skin. All our products are carefully handmade in Japan.

A. Hand washing is possible. With the hook-and-loop fasteners closed to prevent debris from getting caught, gently hand wash with a neutral detergent and reshape before air-drying in the shade.

How to measure your size

To safely use a cat harness, choosing the right size is crucial. A poorly fitting cat harness can lead to unexpected accidents such as escape. Always measure your cat and use a harness of the appropriate size.
