Both owner and cat get stressed trying to cut all the nails perfectly at once. The least stressful method is to take a few days, at a pace of "just the right thumb today" or "stop immediately if they resist." Try trimming one nail at a time when your cat is relaxed or sleeping. You might even be able to trim their nails without them noticing.

When cutting, only trim the pointed tip (1-2 millimeters) to avoid cutting the pink quick (blood vessel).
