These days, the breeze during my morning and evening commute feels a bit cooler. Knowing that autumn is just around the corner, I feel a mix of reluctance and excitement.

Today, I'd like to introduce a new product born from pet owners' love for their cats. It's a cat collar that focuses not only on the fabric but also on the thread.

Soft and fluffy oxford fabric

The all-cotton cat collar uses 100% organic cotton oxford fabric. It's a slightly thick fabric used for sheets and shirts, so it's incredibly soft to the touch.

This time, the batting in the ribbon type is also organic cotton.

This fabric is woven from organically grown cotton in fields that have not used pesticides or chemical fertilizers for over three years, with minimal use of chemicals.

We carefully checked the origin and manufacturing process to ensure that it can be used safely by cats with delicate skin or those concerned about allergies.

Why we insisted on 100% cotton, even for the thread

The reason we insisted on 100% cotton, even for the thread, stems from a message we received from a pet owner who said, "I'm looking for a collar where even the thread is cotton."

They were concerned after reading an article about a cat that accidentally swallowed a thin polyester thread from a collar and died after exploratory surgery...

Indeed, many sewing threads are made of polyester because they are strong.

If a cat accidentally ingests synthetic fiber thread, it can get entangled in the gastric lining or intestines without being digested, leading to loss of appetite, vomiting, or even intestinal obstruction. It was a stark reminder that a thin thread can be life-threatening for a cat.

All-cotton cat collar

At Poponeko, we narrow the stitch pitch to the maximum extent possible to prevent the thread from unraveling, but natural materials offer greater peace of mind in case of accidental ingestion.

While cotton isn't necessarily digestible, we created an all-cotton cat collar with the cat's body in mind for any unexpected ingestion.

Also suitable for metal allergies

Cats can actually suffer from "metal allergies." The skin where the metal touches can become inflamed.

Since cat collars are worn all the time, this is a valid concern.

Therefore, the newly introduced all-cotton cat collar now includes a "metal allergy-friendly model"! Instead of a metal buckle, it uses a transparent resin buckle that is less likely to cause allergies.

Of course, bells and name tags can also be attached to the resin buckle (using a split ring).

Four gentle colors unique to organic cotton

The all-cotton cat collar comes in two types: normal and with a ribbon, and is available in four colors: red, blue, mint green, and undyed (ecru).

Additionally, both the normal and ribbon-attached types can be selected as a metal allergy-friendly model.
