Cats may continuously lick themselves due to itchiness or discomfort, or they may persistently lick their bodies even without any skin abnormalities, which is called "excessive grooming."

Poponeko's "cat-friendly clothing" product development began with thorough research. To find out what kind of cat clothing is desired by cats and their owners, and what actual users are struggling with, we conducted a survey of 1,600 cat owners. Based on the information obtained from their responses, we repeatedly developed prototypes of clothing specifically for cats, not repurposed dog clothing. We repeatedly tested hypotheses about what kind of cat clothing should be used in various situations where it is needed, giving shape to "needs expressed by experienced owners."

To prevent the growth of germs and parasites that cause skin and fur problems, and to keep the skin clean, it can be washed at home.

Hand wash or, if using a washing machine, place in a laundry net and wash on "hand wash mode". For drying, smooth out wrinkles and hang dry in the shade.

■How to get your cat used to clothes

• When dressing your cat in clothes for the first time, don't force it. Let them get used to it for short periods.
• Start with a few minutes to about 10 minutes, and if your cat strongly dislikes it, remove the clothes immediately.
  
• Take your time over several days to several weeks to get them slowly accustomed.
