Excessive grooming is when a cat continuously licks themselves due to itchiness or discomfort, or when they persistently lick their body even without any skin abnormalities.

Poponeko's "Cat-friendly clothing" product development began with thorough research. To find out what kind of cat clothing is desired by cats and their owners, and what challenges actual users face, we conducted a survey of 1600 cat owners. Based on the information gathered from their responses, we repeatedly developed prototypes for cat-specific clothing, not simply repurposing dog clothing. We repeatedly tested hypotheses about when cat clothing is needed and what kind of cat clothing should be used in each situation, shaping the "needs articulated by experienced owners" into a tangible product.

To prevent the growth of bacteria and parasites that can cause skin and fur problems, and to keep the skin clean, it can be washed at home.

Hand wash, or if using a washing machine, place in a laundry net and use the "hand wash mode". For drying, smooth out wrinkles and hang dry in the shade.

■How to get your cat used to wearing clothes

• If your cat is wearing clothes for the first time, don't force it; let them get used to it for short periods.
• Start with a few minutes to about 10 minutes as a guide, and if they show strong dislike, remove it immediately.
  
• Gradually accustom them over several days to several weeks without rushing.
