It's an item you'd want to have, isn't it? Poponeko's cat harness was developed based on a survey of 1,800 cat owners, using materials that are hard to come off and gentle on the skin and fur.

■ Product development exclusively for cats based on a survey of 1,800 cat owners

Poponeko's "cat-friendly harness" product development began with thorough research.

To determine what kind of cat harness cat owners wanted and what problems actual users faced, we conducted a survey of 1,800 cat owners. Based on the information gathered from their responses, we repeatedly developed prototypes for a cat-specific harness, not just a repurposed dog harness.

The biggest concern with cat harnesses is that they might come off.

We developed an ultra-three-dimensional vest-type harness that securely covers a cat's soft body. The vest type has a large contact area with the skin, making it less likely to come off. The back can be securely fastened with a hook-and-loop fastener approximately 5 cm wide. The highly cushioned lining gently and securely holds your cat's upper body.

We also focused on "ease of dressing" for actual use.

If you have to read the instructions to put it on, it's not user-friendly. To thoroughly eliminate any hassle for cat owners, we repeatedly prototyped and adopted a simple design that is easy to put on and take off. You can quickly put it on your cat before they have a chance to dislike it, preventing them from developing a negative impression.

■ Gentle on skin and fur, uses organic cotton

The concept of "hair loss-resistant cat collars" was extended to harnesses.

The lining that touches the cat's skin is made of soft-to-the-touch, domestically produced organic cotton, reducing the burden on the skin and fur. The hook-and-loop fastener on the back is a soft type, also used in human baby clothes, to prevent discomfort for the cat. The outer fabric is a domestically produced cotton-polyester chambray material that has the necessary firmness for a secure fit, is resistant to dirt, and is thin and easy to conform to the body shape, minimizing interference with the cat's movement.

■ Poponeko harnesses can be washed at home

To prevent the growth of germs and parasites that can cause skin and coat problems, and to keep the skin clean, you can wash it at home.

Hand wash or, if using a washing machine, place it in a laundry net and wash it on the "hand wash mode." To dry, smooth out wrinkles and hang dry in the shade.

■ How to get your cat used to the harness

• When wearing a cat harness for the first time, most cats will dislike it or stop moving.
• When wearing a cat harness for the first time, do not force it and gradually get your cat used to it, starting with short periods.
• Start with a few minutes to about 10 minutes, and if your cat dislikes it, take it off immediately.
• Even if you manage to put it on, if your cat freezes or lies down, take it off immediately without forcing it.
• Take your time and gradually get your cat used to it over several days to several weeks.
